Consumer Critiques
So..... Myself and many co-workers decided to make these helicopters portion of our down time although more than here in the middle of nowhere... We have various about the shop correct now, and I purchased this a single...... the other guys all spent about $20 on theirs.... the Syma 107, 108 and 109... that is the Sport, Cobra, and Apache... and I spent $40 on this a single when it was on sale (now it's $50). This ones handling doesn't even come close to comparing to theirs... I read up alot more on the reviews, and for some reason everyone says it's wonderful, but I am thinking they've just never ever tried the Symas. I even ordered a different knuckle that holds the stabilizer bar to the leading rotor, (only came with a single), in hopes that it may possibly make it additional stable and manageable.. it didn't... Also, after crashing about 15 occasions, the tail rotor snapped off at the bottom of the curve... I superglued it back on about 4 occasions, and then drilled holes on either side of the crack and safety wired it back on, and superglued again :) gotta say, it has held up nicely after all the crashes, and it is manageable to fly, and IT SHOOTS MISSLES which is the main benefit over the Symas........... but overall.... the Symas are definitely far more agile, and effortlessly controlled (three I named anyways), and the batteries last a tiny longer, and they are WAY quieter, and for much less than half the cost, I believe I would have just gone with 1 of those.
I upped it to a 4 star, only because it has withstood a main beating, and it shoots missles. It did require the repair of the tail rotor tho, and it does not handle as fantastic as it will need to for the price. and it's loud.
I owned the Syma 108 before I bought this a single. My review will compare in between the two.
Cons:
1)Compared to Syma this one flies like a fat cow. Rotating left and ideal is incredibly responsive but forward and reverse takes like 5 seconds to kick in immediately after you move the manage which is really annoying and prone to crashes. The altitude adjustment response is also poor.
2)This one is considerably noisier. Sounds like a flying lawnmower.
3)Also the left throttle implemented to manage altitude is not spring loaded to throttle down when released like Syma which makes it harder to manage the altitude. (A little workaround of tying a rubber band to the throttle stick and anchoring the other end on the bottom of the controller helped. This keeps the tension on the throttle in the downward direction, which automatically pulls the throttle down when you release. This helps control the altitude a lot greater.)
four)Virtually double the price of Syma.
Pros:
1)Fires Missiles!
Not so enjoyable for my cat but super enjoyable for me. I am planing to modify the mechanism to hopefully squirt water instead.
I wish the Syma had this option.
2)Well constructed. The materials put to use to make this 1 feel extra solid then the Syma.
